How do you update service packs for windows 7 without internet?

I was in line ready to buy windows 7 and asked the clerk at the last sec if you can authorize and also get updates/service packs on a music computer/computer with no internet and he said that you can authorize it to use it but you have to have internet on the computer to get updates/service packs and so on with windows 7. Is this true?

Dunno about Windows 7 but I got my service pack upgrades to XP on CD from the dealer that I bought the PC from in the first place ... don't know if thta's normal or just good service.

Since nearly all the updates address security related issues, if you're not connected to the Internet, I wouldn't worry about it. If a service pack has performance improvements and you want to install it, MS usually makes then available via CD (for a fee). Or you can just have a friend download it and burn it to a CD. That works for me as long I can just download the updates for offline installs. With the Phone Registration.. can you call up the number after hours to register? is it automated or would I have to wait through the weekend to authorize it? Thanks for the replies btw!

on MS site, you go to the service pack page & download the pack for distribution / offline installation (usually there is a special link to a bigger file). It is used on big networks, to get the SP on all machines without each one of them going to MS. Put the file on a USB stick / burned CD, and launch it on your computer.
