I've searched the board to no avail. There's a lot out there on dual monitor setups, but I would like to hear from someone with results from a setup I'm considering. Here's my stuff: B&W G3 450 Rev2 Stock Adaptec SCSI with 9GB system and 18.2 audio 512 MB RAM ATI Rage 16MB (Stock) I would like to add an identical ATI card or something similarly inexpensive (and reliable) to the lone remaining PCI slot and run dual 17" LCD's like NEC, ViewSonic, etc. TIA for your feedback
I don't follow what you're asking or what you have answered but just in case you need a Dual Monitor PCI card....ATI makes one. It's the Radeon VE and it supports two monitors. K

Thanks for the tip on the VE. Do you run this card with LCD screens?. Thanks Again
OK, genius here just figured out that the PCI slot for the stock video card is reversed, rendering my post an exercise in newbie-dom. Sorry for the wasted bytes.
I don't know what you mean by "reversed", but in any case you should be able to add any Mac PCI video card to your machine without problems. The dual monitor problems people report are mostly with the later G4's with AGP graphics slots. I have a G4 Yikes machine with PCI graphics (same as yours except G4 chip) and it works fine with two ATI video cards. The only exception might be your SCSI card - some SCSI cards (especially Adaptec) cause problems, but if you record to an ATA drive it should work. Good luck, Jeff

I'm using a Digi 001 on a B/W G3/400 with the stock Adaptec 2940 U2W SCSI card (and 2 IBM 18GB attached), and I can tell you dual screen is absolutely no hassle when using a second PCI display card (I've got the stock ATI card and a 22" monitor + a Formac Proformance lite and a 15"). Sofar I haven't experienced any incompatibilities with PTLE. But before using the Proformance Lite card I had a Matrox Millenium card which was a real nightmare, crashes and freezes-a-gogo even when doing nothing. So be careful when you choose your card, espacially check for Mac support & Drivers. ATI should be a good choice, it's a long time actor in the Mac world.
