sticky gear selector button

Just bought a 99 volvo s70 xt auto and am so far very happy with the car but one thing that bugs me is that once the button to move the gearstick is pressed it sticks and needs to be manually pushed out because when im parked up it wont allow me to remove the key out of the ignition . It doesnt effect the drive of the car in anyway its just something that bugs me.Hope iv made sense and look forward to hearing any suggestions as to what it could be. many thanks gary

Lubricate it with some light oil from a spray can.

I had the same problem on my S70 1998. WD40 did the trick. Give it a good soaking in and around the button. Leave it soak for a few minutes and then move selector and button a few times to free out. Good luck.

Rather than oil or WD40, consider using that silicone spray lubricant you can get (the sort you'd use for lubing windows / sunroofs and the seals). I'd try just spraying a very tiny amount in, and working the button / catch, to see if it frees up.
