hello i am new to protools and i had a question. i hope that i am in the right place. well here goes. i am trying to get my triton le to start off of protools but i can't get it to do it. i have a midiman 2x2. i've tried enabling midi beat clock and all of that but still nothing. i am very frustrated with not being able to sync my keyboard to protools. if someone can help me i would really appreciate it. thanks!

I'm sure there is a way to sync PTLE to your Triton, but I just don't think it's the best way to go about it. The timing of the Triton will most likely be worse than PTLE. I would suggest making a midi file (type 1) of your sequence in the Triton and importing it into a PTLE session, by putting it on a floppy (hope you're on PC) and copying it into the session and them importing it. If you're not on a PC (cause they usually come with a floppy drive), you should be able to send the midi file to your computer via midi, but I've never tried this. It will be much easier to edit the sequence in PTLE with its greater editing capabilities (albeit limited) than on the Triton.

Hi: The explanation for slaving an external MIDI device to PT is in Chapter 35 of the PT Reference Guide. Basic steps are enabling MIDI Beat Clock and identifying the device to send beat clock to (MIDI->MIDI Beat Clock) and putting PT "online" (Operations->Online). Of course, the Triton needs to be setup to sync via external clock and you need to enable MTC in AMS for the synth so that PT knows it can receive MIDI Time Code. This is the only way, for example, to get a loop in the external sequencer to sync with PT. Like the other guy said, if you are just trying to play back a sequence, it's far more effective to get the sequence into PT and just trigger the synth with normal MIDI messages instead of trying to start playback from PT.
