Hi, all - I'm sure that someone out there knows how to reset the "service" indicator on a 2003 V40. Can you let me know how to do it? Many thanks, Mike

Insert key in ignition. (Do not turn key!) Press and keep pressed trip meter reset button. Turn ignition key to position 2 Continue to press trip button until "Service" light starts to flash. Let go of trip button and turn ignition key back to 0 position.

All the posts I've read on resetting the Service Engine Light are incorrect or incomplete. The method that works (note that this is a 2001 US V40 model and others may be different) is: Proceed as follows to reset the service reminder indicator (SRI): Ignition off Press and hold in the reset button for the trip odometer Ignition on The service reminder indicator (SRI) starts flashing when the reset button for the trip odometer has been pressed for 10 seconds Release the reset button for the trip odometer within 4 seconds. The instrument gives an audible signal when the reset has succeeded. The SRI indicator lamp goes out. Note! If the reset button for the trip odometer is not released within 4 seconds, the light is not reset. However it will stop flashing.

I think that if you turn off the service light this way it only stays off for 6000 miles....
